Its good that I never think of catchy one-liners for the start of a new post. I am not quite sure whether I will publish this post or not. Self-love is the chief object. Who has the highest degree of self-love? Is it the person who thinks so much about how presentable he/she is going to be, what type of company one chooses? Most of us never go out without a proper disposition. The branded clothes, deodorants, shoes all add value to us. We feel we are not acceptable in the society without those. Similarly,we are judged by the sort of friends we have. So, we strive to move around with those who have a socially acceptable (rather appreciable) demeanor.

So where does our value/worth come from? the friends we choose, the things we use, the books we read or atleast we project ourselves to be reading, the discussions we indulge in, the ideals we agree with or at least seem to agree with. Where is the true-self? may be its a result of extended meaning of practicality that we forgo our intrinsic value. We think so much about all trivial things that we feel they are indispensable. If we want to talk to a person or let that person to chat with us, we think ” Do I know him/her? will he have a negative impact?” We debase ourselves so much that any person can have affect us and scare us out of our wits.

Where does this come from? the pseudo self-love. The irrational fear that our happiness/ peace of mind is just eroded by someone within a couple of hours stems from our excessive dependence on external factors to enjoy ourselves. We decide our interests not by what our mind says but what the people around us say. They proclaim our right to ourselves.

I am a lazy enough soul to replace “we” with “most of us”.

P.S.1.Congrats PG!
