100% love – A review

May 18, 2011

I admire Sukumar works right from Arya to Arya 2 in increasing order. 100% love could not quite continue the pattern. The titles scroll is improvised well. Hero in the attire of a groom to the bar is good. The start to flashback episode is stale. The hoardings of hero all over the city is ridiculous. The kids were terrific. The hero is a insufferable know-it-all and reminds me of Clark from GoodWill Hunting. The whole of the first half centers around exams and who tops them. I would probably never find Tamanna saucy irrespective of the amount of waist she shows. A couple of songs are good. On the whole, the first half is just average.

The second half is boring with lots of melodrama. Dharmavarapu`s attempts to generate laughs go in vain. Hero is projecte to be an egoist but his behaviour is inconsistent with the character traits. Heroine thinks of Amar (Ajay Devgan atleast gets to marry Kajol, poor Amar gets none) as a joker whom she can count upon as a primary backup. The item song Diyyala is definitely below par compared to ringa ringa, 36-24-36 and aa ante amalapuram. The Vijay kumar episode is just to increase the running time and incorporate the item song.

On the whole, I am quite disappointed with the movie. None of the characters is well etched out. Coming to the economics of the movie, the summer season has helped it become a hit. The budget is said to be 6 crore and the hero was given the satellite rights. Given the aggressive publicity of Geetha arts, the movie could possibly gross 15 crore. In Vizag itself, it was released in 5 theaters, including rama talkies surprisingly. Lack of quality movies helped Raju and Aravind.

P.S.1.Rangam is awesome, I never expected Karthika to be gorgeous.
