Arya 2

December 7, 2009

I had been waiting for Arya-2 for quite a while. When it came finally, it was worth the wait. I watched the movie thrice; 3rd time I was almost dragged. Coming to the movie, there were many scenes that require a lot of thought and a bit of creativity. The scene Arya chooses Ajay as his friend is shot extremely well. The boy who does the role of Ajay role is great when changing his expression to fear when Arya forces him to get his hand tattooed. Then comes the “tossing of a coin” thread which carries on till the end. The titles scroll in a novel way. DSP name appears prominent as an ant crawls along the paper on which Arya writes that he has to stay with Ajay. Navdeep`s hairdo is a bit odd. Arjun`s intro get up is great as it gels perfectly with his character. The way he fights and does first aid at the same time is good. The cigar thread is good. My interpretation of it is Arya gets burnt before Ajay always. Mukesh rushi says the same in the pre-climax scene “veedu correct kaadhu.ippudu ninnu pramadham lo petti veedu vellipothunadu”. The first song is a bit like the title song of King.
Kajal`s scenes with Arya are good. The lift scene would be great if you are watching the movie for the first time. Brahmi`s comedy with his i-phone and laptop is okay. The scene in which Arjun stifles Navdeep with the pillow to explain why he kissed Kajal is fab. Uppenantha song is fantastic. The encounter scene between arjun and navdeep is another highlight. Navdeep reveals his true colors but Arjun is unfazed. “My love is gone” song came out in a awesome way and choreography was the best ever on Telugu screen. Arjun seems to have picked up a clue from chiranjeevi in the scene when he says to Kajal “oh! ladiesss”. First half was above average with good comedy and tight screenplay.
The movie reaches a higher level in the second half. The dog eating the food to check if it is poisoned was well conceived. The fight in the bus is more or less like the 1st fight. In place of first aid, there are a couple of ambulance vans.”Baby he loves you” lyrics seem to be inspired by “Tongue war” in Gunde jhallumandhi. The most hilarious scene is when Arya is asked to play ring aata with Kajal. The whole sequence was great fun, and in particular the last dialogue “mari antha navvaku. Ajay gaadu chusthe edusthaadu”. “Ringa ringa” song was great but the girl was, may be a wrong choice. The 10-15 best minutes of the movie come when Arya kidnaps subbi reddy. The scenes between Arya and subbireddy have the subtlest sentiment. Subbi crying and saying “naanna pichhannadu. oorlo andharu pichhannaru. nuvvokkadive love annaav”, “sacrifice ante”, “happy ante happy birthday lo happy ey gaa”, sayaji shinde saying “maa vamsam lo puttina original lover ra vaadu”, subbi saying “mana geetha jagrattha thammudu” and subbi getting his hand tattooed are just fantastic. The way in which all three (navdeep, arjun and ajay) eye Kajal in the jeep is good.
“Karige loga” song is picturized well. The climax seems to be a bit dull. Kajal keeps the same expression through out that sequence. Navdeep realizes his folly. The songs are more or less like Arya-A solo hero song (thakadhimithom, Mr.perfect), 2nd song showing the love of hero (feel my love, uppenantha), 3rd song in a party(u rock my world, my love is gone), 4th a low-tempo one (o my brotheru, baby he loves you) 5th an item song (a ante amalapuram, ringa ringa) 6th a tragic song (edho priyaragam, karige loga). The dances are just mind-blowing if you watch once. Next time, some of the steps seem to be fabricated. Still, I would rate them best ever in telugu. The only disappointment is Geetha`s character. She is a confused girl. Arya proposes her and she says to Navdeep she can`t believe him. I wonder what she saw in Navdeep that made her believe his love. Btw, tikki reddy`s accent is just like that of Yaso.

P.S.1. I love CAT. So, I guess I will write it once again.
